This dress is cut from an antique French bedspread, c.1870s-1890s. The bedspread was embellished around the hem with crochet lace and drawnwork, a needlework technique in which threads are removed from the fabric and the remaining threads are bound together in a geometric pattern. We preserved the original "M.C." monogram near the hem. Hand-mending throughout.
